This course covers road safety audits (RSAs)—proactive, formal safety performance examinations of an existing or future road or intersection. An RSA qualitatively estimates and reports on potential road safety issues and identifies improvements.
You may choose to take either the technical or executive track of the course.

Technical Track
Course Description
The technical track of this course provides a comprehensive understanding of RSAs, their purpose, and their distinction from traditional safety reviews. This course explores the eight-step RSA process in depth and addresses common issues and challenges related to RSAs. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to RSAs
- Road safety issues
- RSA process and first steps
- Field review and analysis
- Reporting and response
- Virtual audit exercises
Who Should Take This Course
This course is intended for any personnel who are likely to serve on an RSA team. It is geared toward a wide range of personnel—from technicians to engineers to local lawmakers.

Executive Track
Course Description
The executive track provides a comprehensive understanding of RSAs, their purpose, and their distinction from traditional safety reviews. This course walks through the eight-step RSA process and project management, policy, and funding related to RSAs.
Who Should Take This Course
This course is intended for a variety of positions within local agencies and tribal governments that may be involved in the organization or management of an RSA. It is specifically geared toward supervisor-level positions or higher.
