Work-zone trainers are in demand at MnLTAP.
These trainer positions will develop tailored lesson plans in work zone traffic control and safety, deliver up to 10 three- to four-hour workshops per training year (September to May), communicate course materials on best practices and procedures, and provide a well-rounded education to students regarding how to select, apply, evaluate, adjust, and maintain temporary traffic controls for short-term and intermediate-term work zones.
MnLTAP’s Work-Zone Safety Training Program includes both in-person and online training. These offerings are designed to improve work-zone safety for local agency staff at all levels, from seasonal employees to supervisors.
Required qualifications are a minimum of five years’ experience in active work zones including selection, installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic control devices; previous experience in instructing, teaching, knowledge transfer, and providing technical assistance—particularly in traffic control and safety; previous experience in administering, communicating, and enforcing agency safety procedures; familiarity with the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MN MUTCD) and the Minnesota Temporary Traffic Control Field Manual 2018; and a valid driver’s license.
