Application Rates: How to Apply Granular Salt

When applying granular salt, use the best tool for the job, like a seeder, shaker, or a cup. The wrong application tool can result in overapplication and piles of salt left behind. These tools will work for sand too. Flip through the images below to see which is best for your property.

Try to space salt granules about 2 to 3 inches apart. If you’ve done a good job at removing most of the snow and ice, this amount should work well.
