A free virtual workshop that shows how to use salt and sand most effectively is available for viewing. The two-hour webinar, broadcast October 29, is an online version of our popular in-person CTAP (Circuit Training and Assistance Program) workshop.
CTAP instructor Kathy Schaefer shows how to determine the correct chemical and proper application rates based on the weather and pavement temperature. In some cases, using less material can improve the level of service. Various anti-icing and deicing chemicals are discussed, focusing on how they work, application rates, costs, and storage issues.
The training is intended for street or road superintendents, supervisors, engineers, and all personnel responsible for snow plowing and snow removal.
